The PX Group SA team’s participation in 2022’s EPHJ last June was undoubtedly a great success. Through the innovations presented, the discussions and quality contacts that were established, the PX Group SA teams were able to showcase their know-how and their capacity for innovation with relevance at a show that proved to be one of the most successful yet for this now iconic fair.

One of the highlights was the interactive conference led by the group. Showcasing the 3D printing of precious metals, it gave visitors the opportunity to vote for their favourite ring design. The projects by two students from the HEAD Geneva school of art and design, who were doing their bachelor’s degree in Product Design/Jewellery and Accessories, were very popular with the public.

During this year’s show, the group presented many of their new developments, including the new orientation of the machining and recycling-refining department of PX Précinox. The company’s approach is based on a five-step process:

  1. a machining proposal that is as close as possible to the project’s final form by means of a virtual 3D model presentation
  2. a machining, turning and milling simulation on 3D software
  3. a video example of showing the operation of a two-axis front end lathe is used to illustrate the machine in action
  4. a demonstration of how a case middle is milled using five axes to a 0.2 mm thickness through a video simulation
  5. a projection of how the material input is optimised through a video representation of the process used by the machine

In the same vein, visitors also had a chance to discover the new production method for Grade 5 Titanium trauma plates exhibited by PX Précimet. This new manufacturing process opens up new horizons for a level of finish that has been unequalled to date. Continuous milling and rolling of the material eliminates or improves the machining and finishing stage and optimises efficiency.

Keeping with the theme of the new developments that were presented at this 2022 show, PX Tools presented innovative new coatings for the cutting tool range. Its latest generation of carbide grades means it is now possible to machine grade 5 titanium profiles. The technicality of its geometries and coatings can be adapted to the tool dimensions to make it easier to machine titanium:

  • Below Ø1mm: RV48 coating, good resistance to heat and oxidation.
  • Above Ø1mm: RV36 coating, with pre-prepared cutting edge to improve service life.

The 2022 show therefore enabled all the teams who were there to demonstrate the aptitude for innovation and the high standards of operational excellence that characterises the companies in the PX Group SA while establishing quality contacts and starting talks with key players in the market. It is clear to the group that participating in this iconic fair means promising prospects in the long term
