The PX Group SA team’s participation in EPHJ 2022 last June was a resounding success. Through the innovations presented, the exchanges and quality contacts established, the PX Group SA teams were able to highlight their know-how and capacity for innovation with relevance in an edition that proved to be one of the most successful of this now emblematic fair.

One of the highlights was the interactive conference offered by the group. Dedicated to the theme of 3D printing of precious metals, it offered visitors the chance to vote for their favorite ring design. The projects submitted by two students from HEAD Geneva’s Bachelor’s program in Product Design/Jewelry and Accessories won over the public.

This year’s event featured a number of new products from the group, including the new direction of PX Précinox’s machining and recycling-refining department. The company’s approach is based on a five-stage process:

  1. a machining proposal as close as possible to the final shape, by presenting a virtual 3D model
  2. machining, turning and milling simulation on 3D software
  3. a video example of a two-axis front end lathe to illustrate the machine in action
  4. a demonstration of five-axis milling of a 0.2 mm thick case middle using video simulation
  5. a projection of the optimization of the material input by video representation of the process on the machine

In the same vein, visitors were also able to discover PX Précimet’s new production method for Grade 5 Titanium trauma plates. This new manufacturing process opens up new prospects for a degree of finish unrivalled to date. Continuous milling and lamination of the material eliminates or facilitates machining and finishing operations, and optimizes efficiency.

Also new at this year’s 2022 event are the innovative coatings on the PX Tools cutting tool range. Its latest-generation carbide grades now enable it to machine grade 5 titanium profiles. The technicality of its geometries and coatings can be adapted to the dimensions of the tools to facilitate the machinability of titanium:

  • Below Ø1mm: RV48 coating, good resistance to heat and oxidation.
  • Above Ø1mm: RV36 coating, with cutting edge preparation to improve service life.

This 2022 edition will have enabled all the teams present to demonstrate the strength of innovation and the high level of operational excellence that characterizes PX Groupe SA companies, while establishing high-quality contacts and exchanges with key market players. There’s no doubt that for the group, participation in this emblematic fair will bring promising prospects in the long term.
