THE PONT DE LUCERNE

The Pont de la Chapelle (or “Kapellbrücke” in German) is Europe’s oldest covered wooden bridge. Built in 1333, it was originally part of the city’s fortifications. An essential part of any visit to Lucerne, it is one of Switzerland’s most photographed monuments. Stretching 204 m in length, it spans the River Reuss, providing a bucolic link between the two banks along Lucerne’s Old Town.

It is instantly recognisable thanks to its unusual silhouette, topped by its octagonal “water tower”, and its feet in the river, like a small castle keep. It was long the city’s tallest building, combining the functions of a landmark for the city’s citizens, a hide for keeping lookout, a prison and torture room for its enemies.

PX PRECINOX wanted to pay tribute to this Swiss symbol by creating a Pont de Lucerne edition comprising 7 illustrated mini-ingots, ranging from 1 to 100 grams.

THE SAINT-BERNARD

No portrait of Switzerland would be complete without its Saint-Bernard. It is, after all, one of the country’s big celebrities, and deservedly so. From its 60 to 80 centimetres around the neck and weighing from 50 to nearly 100 kilos, this four-legged hero never fails to impress. The Saint Bernard is renowned for its rescue abilities, helping save avalanche victims, but has also found its way into our hearts thanks to its soft muzzle and sweet nature. Never without the barrel around its neck, a sure-fire remedy against the cold, the Saint Bernard takes centre stage on PX PRECINOX’s 1, 2, 5 and 10 gram fine gold mini-ingots.
