It all started with the idea of developing a trauma profile for medical application. Shortly after completing the first prototyping, we received a request to develop and create a profile for the watchmaking application.
From the production to the trial of a few meters of profiles, we were soon collecting hundreds of meters of orders. Customers are increasingly interested in this metal and in our innovative technical capacity to process and produce grade 5 titanium profiles.
Today, we have an order book of several thousand meters in various profile shapes. To meet market demand, PX Précimet decided to invest in the development of a second line to double its production capacity. By the end of March 2023, the new lines will be in operation, but it seems that this increase in capacity is already insufficient to meet current market demand.
In addition, we aim to pursue the development of trauma plates for medical use in titanium grade 5 ELI as well as in titanium alloy Ti6Al7Nb, which is mainly used by international implant manufacturers based in Switzerland. The applications for Grade 5 titanium seem endless. The medical, watchmaking and aeronautics industries are currently the most interested.
About titanium
Titanium is the metal of the 21st century, thanks to its impressive high properties and outstanding performance in a host of new applications. Titanium is also environmentally friendly and fashionable.
Main reasons for choosing titanium :
- So solid – Titanium has the highest strength-to-weight ratio of all structural metals.
- Light – Low-density titanium is 56% that of steel
- Corrosion-resistant – Natural titanium oxide film offers excellent corrosion resistance against acids, chlorine, salts and polluted water
- Biocompatible – Titanium is the most biocompatible of all materials
- Environmentally friendly – Titanium is the 4th most important metal on earth and is easy to extract. Over 95% of its waste can be recycled
- Fashionable – Titanium is the metal of design, jewelry and architecture, thanks to its many possible colors and surface aspects.
